Food as Medicine for Climate & Health | 9/25 5-6:30pm
Food is the single strongest lever to optimize human health and environmental sustainability on Earth. Diet quality is the root cause of several chronic lifestyle-related diseases- such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Meanwhile, the environmental effects of our current food systems are devastating. They are responsible for 80% deforestation, 70% of freshwater withdrawals, 70% of biodiversity loss on land and 50% in water. On both counts, we are making very little progress towards reaching our health and climate targets. In this panel, we will investigate the root causes, as well as most effective solutions that can shift this trajectory. We will understand why it’s time to break down the silos of Health and Climate and leverage Food as medicine for both.
Panel Discussion:
Led by and moderated by Parneet Pal, Founder, Systematically Well
Neeti Jain, Strategic Partnerships Advisor, NYC Mayor’s office of Food Policy
Shayna Fertig, Senior Advisor to President Good Food Institute
Priya Kumar, Partner, Blue Crab Strategies
Hosted by: CHILL, Parneet Pal Systemically Well, Blue Crab Strategies with support from Rootless and Curious Elixirs.
